Our Experience
Active Communities Network has a long standing commitment to offering progression pathways and training opportunities for project participants, community volunteers and staff alike. In recent years we have increasingly been involved in the education and training sector in a number of ways:
- Development of personal attainment and community training (PACT) initiatives, delivered in community settings, to develop personal and vocational skills in young people and volunteers.
- Development and implementation of vocational training and workforce development courses for the wider sports and community development sectors.
- Establishment of a National Open College Network (NOCN) accreditation centre, and training of staff to gain formal teaching qualifications, ensuring quality assessment and delivery of courses.
- Development of new qualifications and vocational training programmes for the National Qualifications Framework.
- Offering volunteering opportunities and work placements to build skills and work experience for trainees.
- Implementation of apprenticeship programmes.
- Supporting the wider sports and community development sectors in implementing similar pathways through consultation and evaluation, use of our accreditation centre and assessors, use of trainers or development of bespoke training programmes.
- Consultancy work in the international development field – delivering training, training trainers and writing new curriculums bespoke to local needs.
Our services have been used not only in our own project settings, but as part of national training initiatives for the professional sports sector, Sport England and UK Sport, government funded youth development initiatives and National Governing Bodies in sport (NGB’s).
